A tornado watch has been issued for southeastern Nebraska even as snow falls in the west-central portion of the state.
The National Weather Service has issued the tornado watch for southeastern Nebraska as well as southwestern Iowa, central and eastern Kansas, and northwestern Missouri.
The tornado watch is effective until this evening at nine o’clock.
The National Weather Service predicts a rapid increase in severe thunderstorms through the remainder of the afternoon. Tornadoes could develop from these storms.
Even as the National Weather Service issued those precautions, the Nebraska Department of Roads issued a driving advisory for portions of west-central Nebraska due to snow on the ground. A few roads are partially covered with mixed snow, ice, or slush.
