Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles says a young Husker squad will need to grow up in a hurry against an ambitious non conference schedule. Speaking at Big Ten Media Day in Washington D.C., Miles said the Huskers will combine their lone senior in Tai Webster with a group of young but experienced players.
“We are at Kansas and at Clemson in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge”, said Miles. “We have Dayton in the Wooden Legacy and then we have Creighton and Louisiana Tech at home. I think there is a lot of opportunity on the schedule.”
The Huskers finished 16-18 last season but Miles says his team was not that far away.
“We played 21 Big Ten games last year”, added Miles. We were eight and 13 and the average margin of difference was two-tenths of a point. I know we are picked toward the bottom but that is kind of where I like to be so we can pleasantly surprise our friends and colleagues in this room.”
The Huskers host Chadron State on November 7 in Pinnacle Bank Arena.
