A deadly rear-end crash in a construction zone in western Nebraska has claimed one life and sent another person to the hospital.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports 68-year-old Barbara Fritzler of Alliance died at the scene.
According to the patrol, Fritzler had stopped in a construction zone east of Minatare on Highway 26 early Tuesday evening. While Fritzler waited for the pilot car, a pick-up driven by 29-year-old Trevor Teichroeb of Mitchell ran into the rear of Fritzler’s car. The force knocked her car into another stopped in front of her.
Emergency crews extricated Teichroeb from his pick-up. A medical helicopter flew him to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff with serious injuries. The driver of the other car was not injured.
The investigation into the crash continues.
A portion of Highway 26 closed for about two hours after the wreck.
