Nebraska coach Mike Riley says the effort to recruit California paid off. Receiver Keyshawn Johnson Jr. is one of four players from the Golden State to sign with the Huskers and they missed out on several others.
“I don’t mind that”, said Riley. “I hate losing at the end but we got four guys who wanted to come and we love it.”
The Huskers held a satellite camp in California last June in hopes of bolstering their efforts.
Four of the players in the 20-man class are from Nebraska and Riley says they are trying to build a local radius they hope to dominate.
“There is still work to be done with that whole thought”, added Riley. “If I have a goal for next year is we are going to step up making sure we cover all the ground within our radius thoroughly.”
