The Nebraska baseball team opens the season in Tempe, Arizona, on Friday with a doubleheader against UC-Riverside. Expectations are high for the Huskers, who finished second in the Big Ten a year ago. That is nothing new for a program that played in the College World Series three times between 2001 and 2005.
“They understand the tradition here that happened not too long ago and it has set the expectations high which we love”, said Nebraska coach Darin Erstad. “They know how important baseball is to this community.”
The Huskers and Highlanders will play four games in three days at Tempe Diablo Stadium, the Spring Training home of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Following the season-opening doubleheader on Friday, the series continues on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
