The Southeast Community College baseball team is two victories away from a trip to the Division II Junior College World Series. The Storm take a 38-18 into best-of-three North Plains District Tournament beginning Saturday at home against Iowa Central Community College.
The Storm lost their first game at the Region 13 Tournament before roaring back through the loser’s bracket to beat Bismark State College 8-7 in 13 innings in the title game.
“We have done a great job of being able to come from behind and not losing our composure”, said Southeastern coach Dion Parks. “Different guys are making plays and we are finding different ways to win.”
Southeast and Iowa Central met five times during the regular season and three of them were decided by one run. The Storm won two of the five games.
The teams play a doubleheader in Beatrice on Saturday. A third and deciding game, if needed, will be Sunday.
