Winning Streak Over for Lincoln

The longest win streak of the season for the Lincoln Salt Dogs is over after they are soundly beaten last night by Wichita, 9-1.  A big third inning was the downfall for the Dogs as they would give up five runs.

The only run in the game for Lincoln would come in the 3rd inning.  Phil Hawke would hit a single that would drive in Blake Gailen.

The third game of the series is tonight at 7:05.

Big eighth inning leads Saltdogs over the Saints

Brandon Jones and Pat Trettel sparked a six-run eighth inning to lead the Lincoln Saltdogs to a 9-7 win over the St. Paul Saints 9-7 in front of 3,568 fans at Midway Stadium Monday night.

Trettel ripped a two-run triple to center field to tie the game, 5-5. Four batters later Jones launched a three-run homer giving Lincoln a 9-5 lead.

Nick Schreiber (3-0) pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit in relief to earn the win. Former N.L. All-Star and saves leader Chad Cordero (0-1) allowed four runs on three hits in 2/3 of an inning to suffer the loss.

Trettel finished the night 2-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBI. Curt Smith went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and RBI.
