Larsen joins Nebraska Wesleyan football staff

Former Lincoln Southeast football coach John Larsen has been hired as the tight ends coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. Larsen’s Knights were 10-2 last year and reached the semifinals of the state football playoffs. He also coached the Southeast girls basketball team to nine Class A title racking up 560 wins. Larsen was relieved of his two Southeast coaching jobs in March after a DUI incident.

Neb. Wesleyan golf misses D-III championship cut

Nebraska Wesleyan improved its team score by 11 strokes on day two of the NCAA III Men’s Golf Championships, but it was not enough as the Prairie Wolves finished 24th in the team standings and missed the cut after two rounds.

The top 15 teams advance to play the final two days of the NCAA III Championships.

In addition, senior Patrick Hanzel lost a playoff to try and earn an individual spot in the final two days. The top five players not on the top 15 teams also advanced, and Hanzel was forced into a four-man playoff. Hanzel shot a par on the playoff hole, but Alex Kolquist from Gustavus Adolphus birdied the hole to earn the final spot.

Neb.-Wesleyan out of D-III tourney

The No. 8 Carthage College Lady Reds advanced to the NCAA Central Region championship match with a 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 25-19) win over No. 22 Nebraska Wesleyan University on Friday, Nov. 13, at the WU Field House in St. Louis, Mo.

Nebraska-Wesleyan VB starts regional play today

The NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Committee announced its field of 62 teams for the 2009 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championships Monday (Nov. 9), and for the sixth straight season the Nebraska Wesleyan University volleyball team was selected to the tournament.
