Major honor for former Senator Jim Exon

May 19, 2008 By Karla James

Work is underway on the new FBI field office in Omaha. Senator Ben Nelson joined with Senator Chuck Hagel to sponsor the legislation naming the facility after the late Senator Jim Exon. Regional Administrator Brad Scott says it will be one of the most energy efficient buildings constructed by the GSA. He says they are digging some 329 wells to support a geo-thermal system that will heat and cool the facility. Scott says the building will be heated and cooled through the use of geo-thermal wells and is designed to use natural sunlight for 75-percent of the workplace. 75 percent of the workers within the building will have daylight supporting their work places. The new 100-thousand square foot building will double the amount of space available at the current location. The new facility is at 120th and “I” Street and is expected to be completed in about 12 months.
