Aaron Pribanic, the Husker junior right hander was taken in the third round, the 98th pick by the Seattle Mariners.
Pribanic struggled a bit down the stretch, but early on his big leg kick and 98 mph fast ball opened eyes. He’s also got a changeup and slider. This could be a nice pick up for Seattle, as he was somewhat of a dark horse in the early portions of the draft.
Also, Khiry Cooper, who could be Nebraska’s top receiver in the 2008 football recruiting class, was picked in the 5th round by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Cooper does have options. He could pass on the Angels and attend NU on a football scholarship and also play baseball for Mike Anderson. He could sign with the Angels and still play for coach Pelini without a scholarship, but would be banned from playing baseball at NU.
Draft picks have until August 15th to make their final decision.
