The Omaha priest who’s accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from his parish is now in police custody.
Omaha police say 43-year-old Reverend Rodney Adams turned himself in at police headquarters downtown about seven o’clock this morning. Authorities say Adams has been booked on a charge of theft by deception.
After an in-depth probe, the Omaha Archdiocese announced last month it was short more than $83,000, specifically in the Saint Bridget Parish where Adams is the pastor. He also oversees the Saint Rose Parish but was placed on leave last month during the investigation.
Church officials believe Adams acted alone and say the missing money can be traced back several years.
