The Lincoln Saltdogs got back in the win column Wednesday night, beating El Paso 3-1 at Haymarket Park. Lincoln cracked three solo home runs to even the series up at one game apiece.
Lincoln starter Jarrett Gardner (2-2) turned in a performance reminiscent of his All-Star year last season, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on seven hits. Gardner got stronger as the game went on, allowing just one hit over the final four innings. He struck out nine Diablos hitters and walked just one, earning the third complete game by a Lincoln pitcher in the team’s last six games.
The Saltdogs jumped on top in the first inning, when leadoff hitter Jonny Kaplan hit his fourth home run giving Lincoln a quick 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Shea McFeely hit his first homer as a Saltdog, and Mario Delgado led off the bottom of the fourth with his fourth home run.
