Eshaunte “Bear” Jones announced he’s coming to play basketball at Nebraska. It was rumored that Jones was undecided after a weekend visit to NU and that he had a plan to make a trip to Kentucky.
However, Jones canceled that trip and on Friday made his move to NU official. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Fort Wayne, Ind., will be a freshman with four years of eligibility.
As a high school senior at Fort Wayne North Side, Jones was the state of Indiana’s third-leading scorer, averaging 28 points per game. He shot nearly 42 percent from the field.
Jones signed to play with Oregon State, but was granted a release from his letter of intent after the school fired coach John Jay. Nebraska and Kentucky were his top picks after getting out of the Oregon State deal.
