Scott Usher of Grand Island finished 7th in backstroke finals. There were no World Records broken at the Qwest Center in day two of the Olympic Swim Trials. However, Katie Hoff won the 400 meter freestyle. She has now placed in two events so far in Beijing.
Hoff plans on swimming in six events total. Michael Phelps pulled out of the 100 m backstroke. This is the second event he has dropped out of, but will also compete in six events.
Also winning Monday night, Christine Magnuson in the women’s 100 butterfly and Brendan Hansen in the men’s 100 breaststroke.
Tuesday’s schedule has the prelims starting at 11am in the Women’s 200 Free, Men’s 200 Fly, and Women’s 200 IM. Tonight at 7pm are the semifinals in the Men’s 200 Fly, and the Women’s 200 Free and 200 IM. The Men’s and Women’s 100 Back, Men’s 200 Free, and Womens’ 100 Breast finals are also tonight.
