The Omaha Royals lost to the Iowa Cubs in a heartbreaking 15 innings by the final score of 6-5. The O-Royals battled to tie the game and actually take the lead in the 11th inning, but couldn’t hang on for the win.
Down 3-1 in the 9th, the Royals got on board with two walks around an out. Brayan Pena’s single and a sac fly by Jason Smith brought in the tying runs.
In the 11th, Omaha doubles by Mitch Maier and Shane Costa helped put the Royals up 5-3, but in the bottom of the 11th, the Cubs rallied after two singles and a sacrifice fly set up Casey MacGehee’s two run single to tie the game back up.
In the 15th, Bobby Scales singled in Luis Figueroa who doubled with two outs.
