The Lincoln Saltdogs swept a doubleheader from Sioux City, winning 4-1 and 4-3 at Haymarket Park. The sweep moves Lincoln from last place to first place in the North Division of the American Association.
Lincoln starter Jarrett Gardner (5-3) tossed a seven-inning complete game and allowing just one run on six hits. The Saltdogs scored four runs in the fourth against X’s starter Dusty Bergman.
In game two, Saltdogs starter Ryan Dittfurth took a lead in the 7th inning, but was pulled after a hit batsman and a sacrifice bunt. Benny Cepeda couldn’t close the deal walking three batters, tying the game.
In the 8th, Joe Dempsey laid down a perfect squeeze bunt, scoring the winning run.
