A 19 year old Weeping Water man was found guilty of third-degree assault in a baseball bat attack of another man last September. Travis Meisinger was facing a first degree felony assault. He was acquitted of a felony weapons charge. Police say that Meisinger was with a group of others earlier in the evening that had gotten into a “turf war” with another group of teens. After returning to retaliate, they knocked on the door of 49 year old Tony Premo Sr. expecting other teens to answer. Premo Sr. answered the door and was attacked. He spent a month in a hospital in a medically induced coma with critical head injuries. Meisinger will be sentenced in September and could face a year in jail. He remains free on bail. Two others involved in the attack, 18 year old Anthony Houchin and 22 Year old Joshua Hauschild, both of Weeping Water have not yet been in court. They face the same charges as Meisinger.
