Transparency in Government. That’s the goal of a conference being held at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in November. The keynote speaker is John Stossel of ABC’s 20-20. It’s being put on by The Platte Institute. Spokesman Roger Lempke says a new website will be launched at the event.”Better access to vote, A good description of bills under investigation, so it’s all devoted to making the legislative process more transparent to citizens of Nebraska.”
Lempke says residents are supposed to be that second arm of government in Nebraska.
“Instead of having two houses you have one house with a citizen oversight being that second peice that kind of observes and monitors operations. So we’re trying to put more information out that will allow citizens to perform that role.”
