Charges dropped against Omaha police officer

August 15, 2008 By Karla James

Felony charges were dropped against an Omaha police officer.  Fredric James admitted that on several occasions he handcuffed his 13 year old son as a punishment.  Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine dropped the charges against James and his wife.  Susan James did not actually handcuff the child but did say that she failed to provide adequate care.  Both had faced four counts of felony child abuse.  The young teen is currently living outside the family home and with the admissions from his parents in court; efforts are being made to reunite the child with his parents.
