Stuthman worried about the “mental effect”

September 15, 2008 By Nebraska Radio Network Contributor

For the first time ever, Nebraska’s Safe Haven Law is being used, and the first children to be left at a hospital are a 15 year old and an 11 year old. State Senator Arnie Stuthman backed the law, but originally intended it for newborns only.

“The thing that really concerns me is the affect on this child being dropped off, not being wanted, the mental effect on this child, just has to be overwhelming.”

He says he will look at the law and see if it needs to be changed next session.
