Health and Human Services spokesman says two more children were dropped off under the Safe Haven law this weekend at hospitals in Lincoln and Omaha. Both are 12 years old. Governor Dave Heineman comments on a possible special session.
“I hope that we don’t have to do that, but as Governor you never take any option off the table, That’s why I want to keep encouraging parents, Guardians, anyone that has a particular challenging or difficult situation – contact us.
So far 16 children ages one to 17 have been dropped off under the state’s new Safe Haven Law. One woman brought her daughter to a Lincoln hospital Monday morning, then decided not to drop her off.
