The Huskers sitting at 3-3 and just six games left in the college career for the seniors on this team. Quarterback Joe Ganz saw last season slip away and he doesn’t want that to happen again.
The team also isn’t losing sight of the fact that six wins is that magic number for becoming bowl eligible. This is one of those swing games and offensive lineman Matt Slausen says the team is well aware of bowl implications.
The last three games, they’ve played out the same way, fall behind early and then try to play catch up. In two of the three losses, the Huskers almost pulled out wins. So this week it seems as though the focus for head coach Bo Pelini has been cutting down on penalties and cutting down on the breakdowns on defense.
Of course it would help too if the defense could create some turnovers. The defense has only come up with five interceptions and one fumble.
Defensive coordinator Carl Pelini liked the intensity this week in practice.
