A red-white-and-blue homecoming celebration is planned at 5:30 this afternoon in Lincoln. The latest unit of the Nebraska National Guard to come home from a year of duty in Iraq is the 110th Multifunctional Medical Battalion. The Lincoln-based unit has about 45 members.
Governor Heineman and Congressmen Fortenberry are expected to speak at the air base ceremony.
No more Nebraska Guard units are serving in Iraq at the moment, though there are still citizen-soldiers from the Husker State on duty in Afghanistan.
