Nebraska sophomore place-kicker Alex Henery has been named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week.
This comes after his record-setting effort in the Huskers’ 40-31 victory over Colorado last Friday. Alex connected on four field goals, including a game-winning 57-yarder with 1:43 remaining in the contest.
The 57-yard field goal was a Nebraska school record and Memorial Stadium record. The previous record was 55 yards.
Henery is the third Husker in as many weeks to be recognized as a player of the week. Ndamukong Suh was named defensive player two weeks ago. Before that, Joe Ganz won offensive honors.
