People who bought high-tech music players from a Lincoln discount store are finding very low-tech replacements inside the packages.
Some customers might have wanted to play rock music on their new Microsoft Zune MP3 players, but instead they got actual rocks.
Lincoln police says someone bought four of the players from the southeast-side Wal-Mart earlier this month, took the players out, filled the plastic packages with rocks and re-sealed them using heat. Then, they returned the packages, which were mistaken for new and hung back up for sale.
The swap was discovered after a customer brought back a package containing rocks. Investigators say other Wal-Marts along the Interstate 80 corridor may’ve fallen victim to the same scam.
