Some of Omaha’s finest will be serving in the nation’s capitol next week.
The federal government is recruiting about 10,000 National Guard members and law officers from at least 11 states to help provide security and to handle the foot and vehicle traffic for Tuesday’s presidential inaugural.
The only Nebraskans who are responding are ten police officers from Omaha. They’re assigned to a security detail team in Washington D-C.
Record crowds are expected to witness as Barack Obama is sworn in as the 44th president.
