Kenton Walker had a career-high 15 points to lead four players in double-figures as Creighton used a big second half to defeat Missouri State, 75-51.
The Bluejays outscored the Bears 44-22 in the 2nd half for their biggest Missouri Valley Conference win of the year. Creighton is now 17-6 (7-4 MVC) and tied with Bradley and Illinois State for second in the league standings, while Missouri State fell to 9-13 overall and 2-9 in the MVC.
MSU jumped out to an 21-11 lead before CU went on an 8-0 run. Following an MSU score, Woodfox would score four straight to tie it at 23. CU took a 25-24 lead on a buckey by Walker, then extended the margin to 29-24 after a pair of free throws by Justin Carter. MSU responded with five straight points to knot the score at 29 before a Lawson tip-dunk closed out the first-half scoring with CU leading, 31-29.
Creighton came out strong, opening the second half with a 15-4 spurt to build a 46-33 lead. Dana Altman’s squad led by as many as 24 points down the stretch, making good on 60-percent of its second-half field goal attempts.
