As President Obama supplies his signature to the federal stimulus package, states are getting their first real look at what the state will receive. Senator Ben Nelson says Nebraska will get just over one billion, just a small fraction of the 789-billion dollar package.
State Senator Tony Fulton tells us, Nebraska’s small share of the package almost feels like a penalty for fiscal responsibility. Fulton also says the breakdown of the money Nebraska doesn’t feel much like a stimulus. Around 676 million of Nebraska’s stimulus dollars are set-aside for Medicaid and Education. Only 235 million dollars will go to Nebraska roads projects.
