The reward fund is growing for information in a double murder in the Dundee area of Omaha last year.”$50,000 for this case is by far the biggest reward we have ever offered for a specific crime.”
That is Doug Parrott with Crimestoppers. Shirlee Sherman and 11 year old Thomas Hunter were both found dead inside Hunter’s parent’s home last March. Sherman was the Hunter’s housekeeper. Brad Waite is Sherman’s brother and says her family is offering half of the crimestoppers reward.
“We are determined that this case not be forgotten… that we are not going to see it fade away. We are going to see it to the end no matter where it leads.”
Waite says this is a horrific crime… one that can not be forgotten. The murderer has not been caught and if it can happen to Sherman and Hunter, it can happen to you too.
“This crime along with any crime, you have got to understand, will take place any place. It can happen to anybody at anytime.”
Omaha Police Chief Eric Buske says someone knows what happened at the Hunter home near 52nd and Cass Street and the department continues to follow each and every lead.
“We still do get tips, obviously when it is in the news. I think they increase some. But time has passed and we need whoever has information to come forward now.”
