DJ Belfonte’s two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth capped off a four-run rally, as the Huskers baseball team overcame a seven-run deficit to beat Northern Colorado, 14-13.
The Huskers (15-7-1) seem to have a knack for finding ways to win and putting up crooked numbers.
NU was down 10-3 when they scored six runs in the 6th inning and then found themselves down 13-9.
The Huskers rallied again with four more runs with two outs in the 8th including Belfonte’s triple. He collided at home trying to stretch it into an inside the park homer and got ejected for not sliding.
The seven-run deficit NU overcame was its largest since the 2003 season. NU has scored five or more runs in a inning 10 times already this season. The Huskers wrap up the series today against NC with a 1:35 first pitch today.
