The 13th ranked Nebraska women’s gymnastics team travels to the NCAA Southeast Regional in Raleigh, N.C., on Saturday. The Huskers face No. 1 Georgia, No. 12 Penn State, No. 21 West Virginia, NC State and North Carolina. The competition includes five all-around competitors and one individual event specialist per event. The top two teams and top two all-around competitors receive an automatic bid to the 2009 NCAA Championships hosted by Nebraska April 16-18.
NU came in second place at the Big 12 Championships. Senior Brittney Williams won the first Big 12 bars title of her career and junior Kylie Stone and freshman Lora Evenstad were named Big 12 Gymnast of the Year and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, respectively. They along with freshman Kassandra Nathe, were also named to the All-Big 12 Championship team for their performances.
