Husker quarterbac Joe Ganz received an invite to join the Washington Redskins at their mini-camp this weekend.
He’ll join four other quarterbacks including Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel who signed a free agent deal with the Skins after the draft.
In addition to starting quarterback Jason Campbell, the Skins have 37 year old back up Todd Collins as well as third stringer Colt Brennan.
It’s expected that Campbell will remain the starter with Collins as the back-up, but Ganz could have a legitimate shot at third string. Brennan came from the pass happy Hawaii program and Daniel has run nothing but the spread offense since 8th grade.
Ganz and Daniel are basically the same size and Ganz has the advantage of having taken snaps under center while Daniel has struggled in that area.
Also, wide receiver and Grand Island native Todd Peterson signed a free agent contract with Jacksonville and he’ll report to the Jaguars mini-camp on Thursday.
