Swimsuit season isn’t far away and many Nebraskans are looking for ways to slim down and tomorrow may be a good time to start.
Thousands of Nebraskans will be lacing up their sneakers Wednesday over their lunch breaks as people mark the third anniversary of National Walk at Lunch Day. The day is designed to encourage people to spend thirty minutes of their lunch break engaging in a brisk stroll.
Supporters say most Nebraskans’ schedules are built around the work day and very few have time set aside for fitness. Former Nebraska Congressman, legendary Cornhuskers coach and current UNL Athletics Director Tom Osborne will be speaking to a large crowd Wednesday to help kick off the event in Lincoln.
Events are planned across the state, and country, as various businesses and organizations take part and encourage their employees to take part. The event is being sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Find more information at the agency’s website.
