Trailing 6-0 after the third inning, the Creighton Bluejays (28-18) won its seventh straight defeating Illinois State, 10-6 thanks to a seven run, 7th inning.
After getting the deficit to just 6-3, Creighton exploded in the seventh when Scott Thornburg led off with a 400-foot bomb to straight away center. The bases were then loaded courtesy of two walks and a hit-by-pitch, bringing Vicente Cafaro to the plate. Cafaro then singled to left, bringing home Robbie Knight and Elliot Soto and tying the game at 6-6. T.J. Roemmich then hit a single through the right side, plating Darin Ruf and Cafaro and giving CU its first lead of the day. Nick Becker then hit a bloop fly ball to center that no Redbird could get to, allowing two more runs to score, making it 10-6 Creighton. In the inning there were seven runs on four hits.
Creighton will return to action on Friday at 4:00 p.m., against Missouri State, in the first of three games to be played in Omaha.
