The Bellevue University Bruins have been awarded the 2008-2009 Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup for overall excellence in athletics. This is the second year in a row Bellevue has won the Cup.
Points for the Cup are determined by where teams finish in the conference regular season.
The Commissioner’s Cup tracks each member institution’s finish in the MCAC’s nine sports, awarding nine points for a first place finish in the regular season standings, eight points for second, etc. Each school’s point total is then divided by the number of sports it participates in to determine its final score in the Commissioner’s Cup standings.
Bellevue’s women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, softball and baseball squads all won MCAC Championships in 2008-09, while the Bruin women’s soccer team posted a second-place conference finish. Bellevue also claimed the MCAC Women’s All-Sports Title.
