Huskers get the best of CSU-Bakersfield

May 9, 2009 By Bill Pollock

Mike Nesseth picked up his first win since March 18, as Nebraska beat CSU Bakersfield, 9-6, Friday night at Hawks Field.  Nesseth moves to 4-4 on the year after he  allowed five runs in the first two innings, but after that, he didn’t give the Roadrunners much through the 7th inning.  Nesseth struck out seven and allowed just three hits after the second inning.

Cory Burleson led the Huskers who had ten hits on the night  going 2-for-3 with his first career homer and scoring three times. Jake Mort drove in pair of runs, as eight of the nine Huskers starters had hits on the night.   Burleson launched his first homer of the season, a solo shot in the 3rd.   In the 6th, Boomer Collins singled and scored after Tyler Farst, who went 2-for-4, doubled to right center. NU tacked on an unearned run in the seventh, as Burleson singled, moved to second on a wild pitch and eventually scored on a Roadrunner error.
