After a second round of debate, Nebraska lawmakers are moving forward a bill that makes lethal injection the sole means of carrying out the death penalty.
Tuesday’s discussion included mostly discussion from Senators Brenda Council of Omaha and Danielle Nantkes of Lincoln. Nantkes read off repeated situations where lethal injection did not work as planned, one time citing a newspaper article that described the felon screaming in Pain.
Both Nantkes and Council supported a motion to take a break on the bill and discuss it last year – That motion was voted down.
The Lethal injection bill must be approved one more time before heading to the Governor’s desk. he is expected to sign the bill.
