The Omaha Royals snapped a six game losing streak in a 4-1 win over the Fresno Grizzlies at Rosenblatt Stadium Monday night.
Scott Thorman starting the scoring with a two-run homer in the first inning and Kila Ka’aihue added a solo shot in the eighth for Omaha. Travis Metcalf had a sixth inning sac-fly for the O-Royals.
Heath Phillips pitched a complete game seven-hitter for his second win. Omaha improved to 20-and-24 with the win and remain in last place in the PCL American North, four-and-a-half games behind division-leading Nashville.
The second of the four-game series is tonight at 6:35. Omaha sends left-hander Bruce Chen to the hill to face Fresno lefty Steve Hammond.
