O-Royals Fall in New Orleans

June 16, 2009 By Tim Fisher

The Omaha Royals dropped the first of a three game series in New Orleans Monday night 3-2.  Omaha came back to tie the matchup at 2 in the top of the ninth inning as shortstop Irving Falu scored on a single by left fielder Scott Thorman.   Nw Orleans picked up the victory in the bottom of the inning on a walk-off RBI triple by John Raynor.

Omaha starter Matt Wright took a no-decision tossing six innings, scattering seven hits with seven strikeouts and two earned runs.  Carlos Rosa picked up the loss for the Royals.

Falu and Thorman combined for four of the Royals’ five hits. Falu was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs. Thorman was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Game two of the three-game set is tonight as the O-Royals’ start lefty Lenny DiNardo against Hayden Penn for New Orleans.
