Omaha hit back-to-back homers in the 8th as Scott Thorman and Kila Ka’aihue gave Omaha a 4-3 lead, but Albuquerque tied it in the bottom of the ninth and then won the game on an RBI single in the bottom of the 12th as the O-Royals lose another game late 5-4.
The Isotopes scored when Jason Repko singled, stole second and then scored on Chin-lung Hu’s one-out single in the 12th. The Royals are 3-8 on this College World Series 15-game road trip, and are 7-17 in one run games and 3-16 in games decided in the final at-bat this season
Ka’aihue homered twice in the game, giving him 10 for the year and Sidney Ponson making his second rehab start for Omaha as he comes back from an elbow strain went five innings giving up two earned runs on six hits and a walk.
This long road trip now heads to Memphis on Tuesday for a four game series. Next Saturday, the Isotopes are at Rosenblatt. They are the AAA affiliate for the Dodgers and the plan is to have Manny Ramirez play three games for the club before returning to Los Angeles. He most likely will not make the trip to Omaha.
