O-Royals open in Memphis with a loss

June 24, 2009 By Bill Pollock

Shane Robinson and Brian Barden each homered in a four run third inning for the Memphis Redbirds, who beat the Omaha Royals 6-3 dropping Omaha to 3-9 on this 15 game road trip.

Omaha tried to make a game of it getting back to back homers from Cory Aldridge and Mario Lisson in the sixth inning that got the Royals to within three, but Omaha would never threaten again.

Aldridge went 3 for 4 with his two run shot, his 9th of the year. The series will continue tonight with Kyle Davies getting the start after being sent down by Kansas City following a rough start against the Cardinals. Memphis will send Clayton Mortensen to the mound.
