Lincoln starter Zac Cline pitched a complete game, allowing just three runs on seven hits while striking out five, but the Saltdogs loss 3-2 at Sioux City.
The home team scored an unearned run in the fourth inning proved the difference after Phil Hawke’s throw to second was high after Cline had caught Sioux City’s James Boone leaning off first. Shortstop Albenis Machado dropped the throw so Boone advance to third on the error. Adam Hale scored Boone with a sacrifice fly.
Sioux City starter Nick Singleton went eight innings, holding Lincoln to two runs on just five hits. They had runners on first and third in the sixth and came up empty handed then loaded the bases in the eighth, but could not push a run across.
Lincoln is now 0-2 to start the second half.
