Sioux City scored two runs in the seventh inning to rally for a 4-3 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs on Wednesday.
The Explorers scored against Lincoln reliever Matt Reilly (1-3). Derek Schermerhorn doubled and took third when right fielder Deacon Burns couldn’t field the ball cleanly. He later scored on a bloop single with the infield drawn in. Following another single, the X’s pulled a double steal and scored the go ahead run on a sac fly.
Lincoln starter Jim Paduch allowed just two runs on three hits in 5.1 innings. Phil Hawke hit a two-run homer, his ninth of the season. He also hit a bases-loaded single to give the Saltdogs a 3-2 lead. Hawke ended the night 4-for-5 with three RBI.
