The Iowa Cubs went on top in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to three straight two out hits and an error. They go on to beat Omaha 4-3 ending the Royals three game road win streak.
The teams combined for five errors, only two of the seven runs scored were earned. Kyle Davies took the loss, but lowered his ERA to 2.16. I’m beginning to wonder just how much longer the parent Royals’ club is going to keep Davies in Omaha.
Kansas City lost a double header to the Angels on Tuesday with Sidney Ponson and Bruce Chen starting. Both pitchers took the loss barely making it through five innings. Ponson is 1-6 with a 7.63 ERA and Chen is 0-5 with 6.58 ERA. At some point, they need to let Davies pitch in the majors and get on the job training.
Omaha went up 2-1 in the sixth. Irving Falu reached on a fielding error by second baseman Aaron Miles. Tug Hulett singled to center. Both runners moved up on sac bunt. Falu scored on a sac fly an Hulett scored after Mario Lisson reached on a throwing error by third baseman Nate Spears.
Iowa answered with three runs when Davies gave up four straight singles after getting the first two outs. The go ahead run scored on a throwing error by third basemen Travis Metcalf.
Davies went 5.2 innings with just one earned run allowed.
