The Round Rock Express rallied for three runs in the top of the ninth on a two run triple by Mark Saccomanno and an RBI single by John Gall, giving the O-Royals their Pacific Coast League worst eighth loss when leading after eight innings in the 6-5 final.
Saccomanno was involved in all six Round Rock runs as he hit a three run homer in the first off Omaha starter Heath Phillips who pitched into the ninth settling down after that first inning. Phillips gave up a walk and single in the ninth, before Manager Mike Jirschele went to Chris Hayes who couldn’t stop the rally and picked up his fourth loss of the year.
Down 3-0 in the first, the O-Royals came back with a Cory Aldridge solo homer in the second and a two run double in the third. Aldridge’s home run was his 11th on the season.
