Doc Sadler is getting another D-II transfer. Senior Drake Beranek is leaving Nebraska-Kearney to walk-on with the Cornhuskers. Beranek averaged almost 22 points a game and finished 11th in the nation in scoring. Just a month ago, the Huskers picked up Nebraska-Omaha’s Mitch Albers who left the Mavs to walk on.
Beranek led the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in scoring, and was a first-team all-conference and all-region player for the second year in a row. Beranek improved each year going from 11.1 ppg as a freshment to almost 22 as a junior.
Beranek is a career 49% shooter from the floor and almsot as good at three pointers where he’s hit 46%. He’s also solid at the free throw line where is a career 80% charity shooter. With 1,453 points, Beranek was on pace to become the fifth Loper to score 2,000 points in his career.
This will be a tough fill for Lopers’ coach Tom Kropp this upcoming season.
