Due to a huge budget shortfall in the city of Omaha, drastic cuts are being made across the board. On Monday, the Library Board decided to trim more out of its budget.50 people will lose their jobs and the Florence Library Branch will close for the remainder of the year.
Library Director Rivkah Sass says the layoffs run the gamut from administration staff to library workers. They are also looking at what programs will be cut. The Omaha Library offers activities ranging from story time to outreach programs that teach children how to read and help them stay in school.
Sass is uncertain of the future of the Florence Library Branch after December 31st of this year.
