Eastern Nebraskans in the Omaha area are being warned to expect the unexpected tomorrow. There’ll be loud explosions and plenty of smoke, but really, it’s all part of the plan.
Personnel at Offutt Air Force base south of Omaha are taking part in a basewide drill, practicing their response to all sorts of major accidents.
The exercise will run from 9 to 4 and will involve a host of emergency vehicles and helicopters, plus, more than 200 volunteers will be serving as victims of the disaster with simulated injuries.
Offutt’s annual open house and air show is in two weeks.
