J.R. House hit a second inning homer and pitchers Lenny DiNardo and Carlos Rosa combined for a 1-0 win over Oklahoma City on Tuesday. Rosa came into the game in the ninth inning with runners at first and third and one out and got Max Ramirez to fly to right before striking out former Omaha Royal Travis Metcalf to save DiNardo’s 10th win of the year.
DiNardo took a two-hit shutout into the ninth and allowed four singles and three walks while striking out seven. His ERA is now 3.27, fifth best in the PCL. The Royals have 17 shutouts this season, which is eight more than any other Pacific Coast League team This was the fifth time that DiNardo has helped pitch a shutout.
Alex Gordon was charged with two errors against the second batter of the game, Oklahoma City’s Greg Golson, when he first bobbled a grounder up the third base line, then threw wildly to first, allowing Golson to reach second.
