Nebraska reported its third death from H1N1 flu last week. A woman in her 20’s from Douglas County died last week at an Omaha hospital. Health officials say the woman also had other medical conditions that contributed to her death, but they would not say what those conditions were. The two previous deaths were in Adams and Custer Counties. Both were women in their fifties with underlying medical problems. State Epidemiologist Dr. Tom Safranek tells us that there will be co-circulation of the seasonal flu.
“The majority of the virus going on right now and causing problems is the new what we call the the pandaemic H1N1 strain and that is really the one we have most concern about it is the one in which no one has any immunity uf you are under the age of 65.”
